Acceptable Use Policy

This policy explains what you may not do with our servers, how we handle abuse reports and our rules for Tor relays and resource use.

Purpose

This policy keeps our network usable for every customer and stops our servers from being used to harm others. It applies to every service we provide.

Prohibited use

You may not use our services for any of the following:

  • Child sexual abuse material. We have zero tolerance. We terminate the service immediately, without refund, and report it where the law requires.
  • Malware and botnets. Distributing malware or controlling botnets.
  • Phishing. Hosting phishing pages or sending phishing messages.
  • Denial of service. Launching DoS or DDoS attacks against anyone.
  • Spamming. Sending spam or any other bulk unsolicited messages.
  • Brute force. Brute-force or credential-stuffing attacks against logins, servers or services that are not yours.
  • Attacks and scanning. Attacking or scanning other networks without permission.
  • Fraud. Any form of fraud.
  • Stolen data. Selling stolen data.
  • Illegal content. Hosting content that is illegal where the server is located, or that is illegal for you to host.
  • Mining on VPS plans. Cryptocurrency mining is not allowed on VPS plans. It is allowed on dedicated servers.
  • Abused relays and proxies. Running open relays or open proxies that end up being abused.
  • Harm to our network. Anything that harms our network or other customers.
  • Other illegal activities. Any other activity that is illegal.

Tor

Tor middle relays and bridges are welcome. Exit relays need our approval first. Open a Sales ticket and wait for approval before you run one.

Fair use on VPS plans

A VPS shares its host node with other customers. Sustained 100% CPU use that degrades the host for others is not allowed. If your VPS affects other customers in this way, we contact you by ticket first.

Your responsibility

You are responsible for everything that runs on your server, including software installed by anyone you give access to. Keep your software up to date, because a compromised server can be used for any of the activities listed above.

How we handle abuse reports

  • Abuse reports are handled through tickets.
  • When we receive a report about your service, we notify you in a ticket.
  • You then have 30 days to act on the incident and resolve the case. Tell us in the ticket what you did.
  • If the case is not resolved within those 30 days, your service is suspended.
  • The only exception is child sexual abuse material, where we act immediately as described above.
  • We do not send email, so check your dashboard regularly.

To report abuse involving one of our servers, see Support.

Consequences

  • Breaking this policy can lead to suspension or termination of the service.
  • Services terminated for breaking this policy are not refunded. See the Refund Policy.
  • Suspensions for breaking this policy do not count as downtime under the Service Level Agreement.

Questions

If you are not sure whether something is allowed, open a ticket and ask before you start.
